Celebrate the mission

The Vision Virginia State Missions Offering allows the SBC of Virginia to support ministries and churches around the state, making it possible for more people to be reached with the love of Christ and the message of His cross and resurrection.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

This year, we encourage you to donate to the Vision Virginia State Missions offering so that we can continue to help fulfill the Great Commission. We ask that you join us during Sept. 16-23 to pray for the churches and ministries around the region, as well as pray that the SBC of Virginia would meet its goal of $250,000 for the Vision Virginia State Offering. On each day of this site, we will be sharing numbers and stories about the work that you have enabled us to do. Please check with your church first and donate through them if they are participating in this offering.

Throughout our state and nation's capital, there are more than six million lost and unreached people. Church planting is an effective means of making new disciples. Vision Virginia will assist churches and church planters in their task of fulfilling the Great Commission.

Pray that God will reveal to you how you can be a part of a church planting movement and that many would hear God’s calling out to lay people and the vocationally called alike. Will you be a part of what God is doing?

Matthew 19:13-14
Then children were brought to Him so He might put His hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked them. Then Jesus said, "Leave the children alone, and don't try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this."
Property for Church Plants

Owning property says, "We’re here to stay." Neighbors notice. Healthy church plants face the challenging need of finding land and permanent facilities. Vision Virginia will help church plants buy land, giving them credibility in their communities and providing new opportunities to share the Gospel.

Most new churches start in portable venues such as school gymnasiums, movie theaters, or warehouses. Once established, some will need a more permanent meeting space. Pray that church plants will be able to locate property that will meet the needs of their growing ministries.

Worship Equipment for Church Plants

When church plants reach the stage of holding public worship services, they need equipment that is often costly and sometimes beyond their means. Vision Virginia will help equip church plants with the tools they need to impact their communities through worship ministries.

Among the many expenses of launching a new church is the cost of buying equipment needed to begin corporate worship. Pray that worship leaders at church plants will have access to all that is necessary for them for their ministry.

Pray for churches planters as they make use of this space that they would reach many with the Gospel for Christ.

Ministry Intern Scholarships

Churches are often understaffed to meet the growing needs of their congregations. Utilizing an intern is a great way to extend the ministry of the pastor and staff, while also mentoring and investing in future church leaders. Vision Virginia will support this unique ministry by providing scholarships and intercessory prayer.

Pray for the interns (both semester and summer) as they serve SBCV churches that they will be a blessing to the churches they work with and that they will be strengthened to serve God.

Appalachian Ministries

SBC of Virginia churches and ministry centers in the Appalachian Region are presented with many poverty-related issues, including things like physical abuse, drug use, illiteracy, basic physical needs, and worldview differences. Vision Virginia will help meet these needs and open a way for spiritual change.

Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky is a significant mission field with over 700,000 unchurched men, women, teenagers, boys and girls. Pray that the Holy Spirit will bring conviction of sin upon the hearts of the unchurched and send Christians to share with them the gospel (2 Peter 3:9).
